Ranney named Woman Physician of the Year

PROVIDENCE – An emergency physician and nationally known gun safety advocate is this year’s Rhode Island Medical Women’s Association Woman Physician of the Year.

Dr. Megan L. Ranney, an emergency room physician at Rhode Island and the Miriam hospitals, has been named as the 2019 winner.

PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island Quality Institute has appointed Indra Neil Sarkar interim president and CEO, the organization announced Friday.

Sarkar currently serves as the director of the Center for Biomedical Informatics at Brown University. He started in the interim role at RIQI effective April 1. Sarkar succeeds Laura Adams, RIQI’s founder and former CEO.

PROVIDENCE – Laura Adams, founder and CEO of Rhode Island Quality Institute, left the organization this week.

After spending about two months transitioning out, Adams’ last day at the helm of RIQI was Monday, RIQI’s Senior Director of Strategy and Growth Scott Young confirmed.

Dr. Neil Sarkar has been appointed interim CEO.
