CurrentCare Viewer

The CurrentCare Viewer is a web-based portal that provides up-to-date clinical information for consented patients from CurrentCare’s data-sharing partners.

Patients’ records include clinical summaries, lab test results, x-ray and radiology reports, medication history, and hospital and emergency room visits. Clinicians and staff at authorized healthcare facilities can quickly access comprehensive, real-time patient information from across the state.

More than one thousand healthcare clinicians across Rhode Island are trained to use the Viewer to access their patients’ most up-to-date clinical information.

Clinical Data Tips:

A few helpful tips regarding clinical data in the Viewer:

Problems:

• “Current Problems” Tab – problems have a status of “Active”
• “Historical Problems” Tab – problems have a status of “Resolved”
• “Standardized Problem” column – displays the standardized SNOMED CT format (when available) or displays the “Original Problem” (when not available as SNOMED CT)
• “Original Problem” column – displays the original problem, as received from the source, or blank if originally in SNOMED CT format

Medications:

• “Current Medications” Tab – medications have a status of “In Progress” or “Executed” (either documented by a provider organization or ready for pickup at a pharmacy)
• “Historical Medications” Tab – medications have a status of “Inactive” (as documented by a provider organization)
• “Clinical Summary Tab / Medications section” – includes ALL medications
• “Standardized Medication” column – displays the standardized NDC or RxNORM format (when available) or displays the “Original Medication” (when not available as standardized)
• “Original Medication” column – displays the original medication, as received from the source, or blank if originally in standardized format
• “Instructions” column – displays the text instructions for the patient (eg, “Take 2 before bed”)

Lab Results:

• “Reference Range” – Individual lab test results may have a “See_Comment” in the “Reference Range” column instead of the result’s actual reference range. – In these instances, the reference range will have been appended to the end of the “Comment” column and will start with: [Automated message].
• Note that there is a known issue with displaying the sensitivities for certain Microbiology lab results. A suggested workaround is to click the Print icon (or look in the Summary Report), which often contain the sensitivity details.

Vital Signs:

• Vitals are displayed on the “Vital Signs” Tab when sent by Data Sharing Partners using the LOINC standard.
• Only the displayed Units of Measurement are supported on the “Vital Signs” Tab. If a different unit is sent (ex: Degrees Celcius instead of Degrees Fahrenheit), it can be viewed within the “Documents” Tab within the Data Sharing Partner’s medical record summary.
• If a Vital Sign value has an asterisk (*) next to it, click on the value to view an associated comment (such as “Weight taken with shoes on”).
